How do teachers know which students aren’t focused? They receive an alert at the top of the screen indicating which students show unusual browsing behavior. Utilizing artificial intelligence, our classroom management app leverages years of data on students’ typical browsing behavior to understand when students’ online activity is abnormal.
Lightspeed Classroom Management solution identifies the students who’ve visited the most URLs during the class period, which may indicate a student who’s off-task.
Teachers can see what websites all their students are on right now. With Lightspeed Classroom Management, educators can open an aggregate view of web activity, allowing them to see a list of the URLs with favicons so they can quickly check everyone’s status.
Using Lightspeed Classroom Management, teachers can easily check students’ browsing history anytime during the class period to verify their browsing history is on task. Simply click a student’s name and select browsing history to see the student’s browsing activity for the entire class period. Teachers can also view every student’s open tabs.
Maybe teachers need to get a sense of where students are spending most of their time online. This can be done by looking under the Top Browsing in the left navigation, which shows running totals of how many students are on each domain.
With Lightspeed Classroom Management, students can set their status to “working” or “done” or “need help.” This way, teachers will know when it’s safe to move on to the next task—and if students who are finished with their work are browsing unrelated URLs, teachers don’t have to wonder whether they’re distracted from the current assignment.

Heat map view also uses color variance to quickly indicate the number of recent websites each student has viewed in class (light yellow means few websites and darker yellow means many websites), helping teachers identify students who may be off task.
Teachers know better than anyone that not all students who need help raise their hands and ask for it. In Lightspeed Classroom Management, students can set their status to “need help” to discreetly notify their teacher when they’re stuck.
If your teacher gets a notification that one of their students has unusual browsing activity, but the teacher wants to know for sure, your teacher can click on the student’s name to see what’s happening on the student device right that second.
If your teacher encounters a student who is continually getting off task, the teacher can record the student’s device screen, capturing that activity so they can provide examples to parents or administration to correct the student’s behavior. Note, with students’ privacy in mind, the ability to record students’ screens is limited to during the class session only.
Does a distracted student need a nudge to focus? Teachers can send a custom message or choose one from a list of predefined messages (e.g. “Are you done?” or “Need help?”) directly to the student. It will show up as a notification in the student’s browser. Students can then respond, “Yes,” “No,” or write a custom message.

When students set their statuses to “done,” they’ll be released from any Web Rules their teachers have created. Then, they’ll be free to browse the web or work on other assignments.
Teachers can create student groups right from the main dashboard by clicking “Create Group” at the bottom. This is a great feature for group projects or if teachers identify students who need learning interventions and require more customized lessons. Teachers can also share their screens, lock student screens, and push URLs to only that group.
Every student group has a Group Web Rules feature. Teachers can create custom lists of websites to block or allow based on each group’s needs without blocking everyone else.
Right from the teacher’s dashboard, teachers can see which students are “checked-in,” “not checked-in,” or “offline.” Attendance is aggregated by number of students fitting each category within the left navigation and an attendance status is displayed next to every student name, on every view whether in screen view, heat map, or list view.
If a student should be in a classroom, but isn’t, a “not checked-in” identifier will appear by their name. This indicator appears if the student is both online and checked into another teacher’s class. Teachers can override the student’s attendance location and bring them into their own digital classroom by clicking on the student’s name and then, clicking the “check-in” button at the top of the student information.
