Why Schools Trust Lightspeed Hall Monitor™

Minimize Classroom Disruptions
Minimize Class Disruptions
  • Set custom rules that enforce themselves : configure daily, weekly, cooldown, and per-class limits and student-level exceptions; Hall Monitor handles the rest without teachers tracking anything manually.

  • Gate pass requests when needed: protect class minutes so instruction isn't interrupted at key times.

  • Set passes to auto-approve: configure which destinations require teacher approval and which don't, saving teachers from ongoing disruptions.

  • Know who's out, where, and for how long at a glance: a live dashboard shows all active, overdue, pending, and waitlisted passes

  • Spot patterns across days, weeks, and students: pull pass history at any level to spot frequent flyers and which periods are losing the most instructional time.

  • Get school and district visibility without pulling a separate report: analytics surface pass volume, top destinations, and trends in the same place you manage passes.

  • Track meetup patterns: Hall Monitor automatically flags students who frequently leave class at the same time so you can act before patterns become incidents.

  • Block known groups from coordinating in the hall: add specific student pairings to a block list so their passes can't overlap, proactively rather than reactively.

  • Accommodate every student's documented needs: adjust time limits, pass counts, or auto-approval rules per student to match IEP or 504 accommodations without a separate process.

  • Build a complete audit trail without extra work: every pass is automatically logged with student, destination, elapsed time, and outcome so the record is there when you need it.

Lightspeed Hall Monitor Reverse

does it better.

Built for Teachers

Students request passes from their school-issued device. Teachers approve in seconds — or configure auto-approval for routine locations so they never leave the lesson. No new login. No separate tool.

Built for IT

One fewer vendor contract and one fewer integration to manage. IT configures per-campus rules within district-wide policy, controls staff permissions, and manages everything from the same console as the rest of Lightspeed.

Built for Your Needs

Locations, approval rules, time limits, and pass policies can be set independently at the district or school level. Every campus gets the configuration that works for it, within the guardrails the district sets.

One Integrated Platform

Hall Monitor is built into Lightspeed — the same platform schools already use for filtering, safety, and classroom management. Use it standalone or alongside Lightspeed Classroom™ with one login and one contract.

FAQs

Is Hall Monitor available without a Lightspeed Classroom license?

Yes. Hall Monitor is now available as a standalone product — no Lightspeed Classroom license required. It can also be added to an existing Classroom license, or used as an entry point that grows into the broader Lightspeed platform over time.

Yes. Kiosk Mode lets students request passes from any shared device running a web browser — including iOS — so students without 1:1 devices can still participate. No app installation required for kiosk stations.

Hall Monitor is available through the Lightspeed Agent and Extension on Chrome at launch, with Windows and Mac support to follow. Kiosk Mode works on any web browser, including iOS. Teacher and administrator dashboards are accessible via web and mobile.

Hall Monitor automatically flags students who are frequently out of class at the same time using rules-based detection. Administrators can also manually add specific student groupings to a block list to prevent their passes from overlapping. Both approaches are supported.

Per-student overrides are available for:

  • Daily pass limit — set a custom count or remove the limit entirely
  • Weekly pass limit — same, independently of the daily setting
  • Cooldown period — shorten or remove the required time between passes
  • Auto-approved destinations — designate specific locations (e.g., Nurse) that always auto-approve for that student, regardless of the school’s default approval rules for that destination

Yes! Teachers can create passes for their students, students can request their own passes, and other staff can create passes. All of this is easily managed with rules administrators set around limits, approvals, and exceptions.
