Technology plays a critical role in advancing learning. Sadly, exposure to the internet (and social media, specifically)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC4853817\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is linked to an increased risk of depression<\/a>&nbsp;and other mental health issues. Among 10- to 14-year-olds,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nimh.nih.gov\/health\/statistics\/suicide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suicide is the second leading cause of death<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s essential for K-12 employees and parents&nbsp;to be&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/essayhub.com\/study\/childrens-mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">informed of these trends.<\/a>&nbsp;In honor of&nbsp;National Children\u2019s Mental Health Awareness Day, we\u2019re raising awareness to help schools better identify high-risk&nbsp;student behavior online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-here-are-just-a-few-ways-the-nbsp-lightspeed-solutions-suite-nbsp-makes-it-easier-to-identify-mental-health-concerns-and-risky-behavior-nbsp-like-bullying-self-harm-and-suicide-threats\">Here are just a few ways the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightspeedsystems.com\/solutions\/\">Lightspeed Solutions Suite<\/a>&nbsp;makes it easier to identify mental health concerns and risky behavior&nbsp;\u2014 like bullying, self-harm, and suicide threats.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-safety-check-now-lightspeed-alert\">1. Safety Check (now Lightspeed Alert)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightspeedsystems.com\/products\/lightspeed-alert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lightspeed Alert<\/a>\u00a0is a new feature in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightspeedsystems.com\/products\/lightspeed-filter\/\">Lightspeed Filter<\/a>\u00a0(formerly Relay)\u00a0 to surface high-risk student activity online. Using Safety Check\u2019s powerful AI alerts, IT can review specific students\u2019 behavior, then escalate if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more about this smart new feature to help keep your students safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-flagged-alerts\">2. Flagged Alerts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/community.lightspeedsystems.com\/documentation\/relay-settings\/#email-notifications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Relay\u2019s Flagged Terms<\/a>&nbsp;feature is a core element of Lightspeed reports to help pinpoint suspicious student behavior. IT can set custom Flagged Terms and phrases with corresponding danger levels, and receive immediate, daily, and weekly email alerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert Williams, director of technology at Nye School District, recently began leveraging Relay for his district. \u201cWithin the first week, [Relay] identified two students in one of the schools that were researching a suicide hotline,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Relay, schools can set Flagged Terms based on user input, not just page scanning.
