A classroom that looks focused but is full of tabs you don\u2019t want to see. \u201cChromebook gaming\u201d has gone from a minor annoyance to a full-blown epidemic, as<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesentinel.com\/communities\/chromebook-game-playing-reaches-epidemic-level\/article_b8f42025-54c8-4c51-bd38-14df17a7a098.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> one Maryland paper recently put it<\/a>. And it\u2019s not just hurting instruction \u2014 digital distracting is eating away at learning time, teacher morale, and school-wide expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-students-recognize-the-digital-distraction-too\">Students Recognize the Digital Distraction, Too.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edweek.org\/leadership\/digital-distractions-in-class-linked-to-lower-academic-performance\/2023\/12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2\/3 of students report being distracted by digital noise<\/a>. With a device on every student\u2019s desk, a little distraction machine with new tabs to be opened and notifications to be addressed and random wormholes to be explored, we can\u2019t pretend it\u2019s not affecting learning. But let\u2019s be real \u2014 even educational games can become distractions when they\u2019re not aligned to what\u2019s happening in class. That\u2019s why we also make it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightspeedsystems.com\/en_uk\/products\/lightspeed-classroom-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">easy for teachers to manage access on the fly<\/a>. If a math game isn\u2019t part of the lesson today, a teacher can temporarily block it with a few clicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And they can do that while monitoring student screens, seeing exactly what students are doing \u2014 not in a Big Brother kind of way, but in a Big Educator kind of way. Focused. Intentional. Fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t about locking everything down or turning school into a surveillance state.
