You have many.<\/p><ul data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2344\"><li data-section-id=\"e9xgyx\" data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2199\">Teachers experimenting\u2026 and others opting out<\/li><li data-section-id=\"16cjtao\" data-start=\"2200\" data-end=\"2251\">Students using AI daily\u2026 even when it\u2019s blocked<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1bvifrq\" data-start=\"2252\" data-end=\"2291\">Parents curious, concerned, or both<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1wrhrbl\" data-start=\"2292\" data-end=\"2344\">Leaders trying to balance innovation with safety<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2346\" data-end=\"2494\">Amber said something that stuck with me: <em data-start=\"2387\" data-end=\"2456\">you can\u2019t change people\u2019s minds until you change their experiences.<\/em><\/p><p data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"2541\">That\u2019s why forced adoption doesn\u2019t work here.<\/p><p data-start=\"2543\" data-end=\"2589\">This has to be an <em data-start=\"2561\" data-end=\"2573\">invitation<\/em>, not a mandate.<\/p><p data-start=\"1429\" data-end=\"1682\">Katie put it well: when tools like ChatGPT reached massive adoption in months\u2014not years\u2014it flipped the traditional model on its head. Districts were expected to lead before they\u2019d had time to fully learn themselves.<\/p><p data-start=\"1684\" data-end=\"1720\">So what did many districts do first? They paused. Some blocked access. And yes, students still found ways to use them. That\u2019s reality.<\/p><p data-start=\"2828\" data-end=\"2871\">But the goal wasn\u2019t control\u2014it was clarity.<\/p><p data-start=\"2873\" data-end=\"2914\">Ashley described it as creating space to:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2915\" data-end=\"3018\"><li data-section-id=\"kxrefm\" data-start=\"2915\" data-end=\"2947\">Build a shared understanding<\/li><li data-section-id=\"y9k0em\" data-start=\"2948\" data-end=\"2975\">Align to district goals<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1a00v34\" data-start=\"2976\" data-end=\"3018\">Develop training before opening access<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"3020\" data-end=\"3179\">Temple ISD, for example, took a phased, multi-year approach\u2014starting with staff readiness before rolling out to students.<\/p><p data-start=\"3181\" data-end=\"3212\">And that\u2019s the key distinction:<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3303\">Blocking isn\u2019t a solution.<\/li><li data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3303\">It\u2019s a temporary strategy to prepare for a better one.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-78af96b e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"78af96b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47fda3d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"47fda3d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Guidance Matters More Than Tools<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3dd3813 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3dd3813\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a05eaa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8a05eaa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"3347\" data-end=\"3415\">If there\u2019s one mistake districts are trying to avoid now, it\u2019s this: Letting AI usage happen <em data-start=\"3441\" data-end=\"3449\">before<\/em> guidance exists.<\/p><p data-start=\"3468\" data-end=\"3494\">Because what happens then?<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"3496\" data-end=\"3621\">Students experiment without guardrails.<\/li><li data-start=\"3496\" data-end=\"3621\">Teachers react after misuse.<\/li><li data-start=\"3496\" data-end=\"3621\">Policies follow problems instead of preventing them.<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"3623\" data-end=\"3795\">Katie shared a simple but powerful early move: a short statement clarifying that AI is a learning tool\u2014not a replacement for thinking.<\/p><p data-start=\"3797\" data-end=\"3846\">That\u2019s not complicated. Then improve.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a7e060 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"4569\" data-end=\"4611\">One of the biggest mindset shifts is this: AI is no longer optional for student readiness.<\/p><p data-start=\"4662\" data-end=\"4809\">Katie tied this directly to their district mission\u2014<em data-start=\"4713\" data-end=\"4771\">preparing students to confidently navigate their future.<\/em><\/p><p data-start=\"4662\" data-end=\"4809\">And that future includes AI.<\/p><p data-start=\"4841\" data-end=\"4863\"><strong>So the question isn\u2019t:<\/strong> \u201cShould students use AI?\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"4893\" data-end=\"4898\"><strong>It\u2019s:<\/strong> \u201cHow do we teach them to use it well?\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"4941\" data-end=\"4955\">That includes:<\/p><ul data-start=\"4956\" data-end=\"5078\"><li data-section-id=\"6cspud\"
