WACO, Texas (KWTX)<\/strong> \u2013 El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Waco lanz\u00f3 la aplicaci\u00f3n \u201cSTOPit\u201d a principios de octubre con la esperanza de abordar el acoso y otras amenazas.<\/p>\n

La aplicaci\u00f3n permite a los estudiantes, sus familias o cualquier persona de la comunidad dar pistas an\u00f3nimas utilizando im\u00e1genes, videos y texto.<\/p>\n

"Es una herramienta que permite la comunicaci\u00f3n bidireccional", dijo la Dra. Rachelle Warren, Superintendente Adjunta de Servicios y Apoyo Estudiantil.<\/p>\n

\u201cPueden enviar informes de forma an\u00f3nima y pueden referirse a cualquier tema, es decir, a cualquier comportamiento preocupante\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hope Balfa-Mustakim tiene dos hijos en Waco y dice que es necesario abordar los problemas de salud mental y el acoso escolar.<\/p>\n

\u201cComo trabajadora social, entiendo las implicaciones que tiene la salud mental en el ni\u00f1o que sufre acoso, en los ni\u00f1os que presencian el acoso e incluso en los ni\u00f1os que lo cometen\u201d, dijo.<\/p>\n

Balfa-Mustakim afirma que estos problemas se observan aqu\u00ed mismo en nuestra zona y pueden afectar a los estudiantes de diversas maneras. Por eso es tan importante contar con herramientas para denunciarlos.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa salud mental y el acoso escolar tienen un impacto dr\u00e1stico en el rendimiento de los estudiantes, su capacidad de aprendizaje y el clima del campus donde se sienten seguros y pueden aprender porque se sienten seguros\u201d, afirm\u00f3 Balfa-Mustakim.<\/p>\n

Los l\u00edderes de Waco ISD esperan que la aplicaci\u00f3n \u201cSTOPit\u201d abra esa puerta de comunicaci\u00f3n y dicen que ya est\u00e1n viendo se\u00f1ales de eso.<\/p>\n

El Dr. Warren dice que en el mes de octubre, han llegado a la aplicaci\u00f3n docenas de informes de niveles primarios, intermedios y secundarios que van directamente a un administrador.<\/p>\n

\u201cRealmente nos permite conectar con la voz m\u00e1s importante de nuestra comunidad y ver las cosas desde su perspectiva\u201d, dijo el Dr. Warren.<\/p>\n

\u201cCada informe que hemos recibido hasta ahora realmente nos ha conectado con informaci\u00f3n importante\u201d.<\/p>\n

Susan Kincannon, superintendente. \u201cOfrecer una forma segura para que los estudiantes reporten cualquier da\u00f1o o se sientan en peligro es simplemente una medida adicional de protecci\u00f3n para su bienestar.
