Lightspeed Systems partners with more than 25,000 schools around the world, so we\u2019re uniquely positioned to provide trend, comparative and behavioral analyses about student digital behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Collecting data on student searches and page views is key to understanding several things about education today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What educational sites appear to be dominating K-12?<\/li>\n<li>What noneducational sites or topics are popular with students?<\/li>\n<li>What resources are students seeking on their own?<br \/>\nOver the course of one month, we collected the site and search data from schools using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightspeedsystems.com\/products\/lightspeed-filter\/\">Lightspeed Filter (formerly Relay).<\/a> Ready to see what we learned? The No. 1 student search term is \u201cGoogle Classroom\u201d with 975,994 searches total. \u201cGoogle Docs\u201d and \u201cYouTube\u201d fall into the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in search popularity.<\/p>\n<p>It makes sense that Google services are in students\u2019 top three searches. After all, Chromebooks are the No. 1 devices for K-12 in the United States, driving home Google\u2019s domination of the education space.<\/p>\n<p>Meme-ing is also a popular online student activity, with the terms \u201cmemes,\u201d \u201cfunny memes\u201d and \u201cdank memes\u201d appearing highly in search frequency. Memes have risen in popularity in recent years as catchphrases and jokes transmitted online via images.<\/p>\n<p>Looking down the list, we continue to see more Google services as well as educational resources like \u201cperiodic table,\u201d \u201ccool math games\u201d and \u201cdictionary\u201d appearing on the top list.
