I’m Marissa Naab. I’m on the webinar team here at Lightspeed Systems, and I have the pleasure of moderating today’s discussion.

Without further ado, I would like to introduce Greg Hogan. Greg, would you like to tell us a little bit more about yourself?
Everybody, thank you for joining the webinar today. My name is Greg Hogan, I’m the Network Security Coordinator for Bibb County School District.
I have been with Bibb County Schools for about, this is my fourth year now, and prior to that, I’ve been in K–12 IT for almost 20 years now. So, I’ve had my hands in the K–12 technologies environment
For some time. Started out as a School Technician, moved into Systems Administrator, and then now in my new role here at Bibb County is Network Security Coordinator.
So, I have had my hands in the content filtering world for about eight years with different levels of content filters.
So, I’m excited to share some of the things that we’re doing here in Bibb County.
All right. So, let’s, let’s move on to the presentation and the slides. So, I’ve told you a little bit about myself.
And, some of the things that we’re going to discuss today, some of the goals of today is discuss how we’re solving the challenges of mental health. Covid kicked in, and kind of increased just a level of mental health safety
that as a district, we wanted to take seriously, and help out in any way that we can. So, I’m going to kind of talk a little bit about that. I’m gonna walk through some of the procedures we’ve put in place. We’re still in a growing process for this, but just kind of show you how we’re doing it, and how it can change, it’s evolving. We’re keeping it somewhat simple. But I want to show you how we’re doing it, and then just kinda highlight some of the ways that we’re detecting it,
How we’re analyzing some of the threats that are coming in, or some of the self-harm alerts that are coming in. And then just kind of learning how to identify those and treat them whether they need to be escalated to the school or just needed to be overlooked, because they’re not truly a threat or our self-harm issue.
So, coming up with an effective and simple deployment of a cloud-based content filter without much overhead. That was one of the things that we look for.
I’ve set up several content filters in the past for K–12 districts, and we were looking for something more in depth.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and we’re going to let Brett Baldwin takeover, so that she can cover his portion of the presentation and he can discuss the information that he was going to cover today.
If you could please share your screen, let’s just go ahead and move to your portion of the presentation. And then we can see if we can get Greg a chance to get reconnected with us.
Perfect. And thanks, everybody. I appreciate the opportunity to visit Brett Baldwin. I’m the VP of Sales for the Western US here at Lightspeed, and grateful to have the opportunity to present today. I know Greg was going to share quite a bit about what his districts doing, and I’m very hopeful that we’ll end up having a conversation to share how Bibb County has been handling things around student self-harm, or harm to others, and just all mental health. It’s a real challenge today, it’s something that students are facing. As Marissa mentioned, if you have any questions that come up during this presentation, please don’t hesitate to put it into the chat window. I wanna make sure we address those, and that you get as much as possible out of this presentation.
I’m going to talk a little bit about Lightspeed. To start with our mission truly, is to advance online learning safety and effectiveness. And that includes everything from content, delivery, and ensuring your educators have access to content. For safety, the topic today, which is, mental health. We’ve been very blessed to be in districts all over the world. As you can see here. We’re lucky enough to maintain 95% customer satisfaction and we’re in 28,000 school districts and continue to grow internationally. We’re grateful for that opportunity.
So, in our portfolio, we have five products today. We’re going to spend most of our time talking around the Lightspeed Alert product, and how we’ve been helping districts overcome some of the challenges around mental health. Even though we’re really focusing on that product, I do want to bring out that we do have a content filtering solution and we’re really excited that we’re the only ones in market today that cross-platform have agent-based filtering, where we actually handle that at the device level, really helpful for your team. Lightspeed Analytics product, which you’ll get all the content consumption from your students and efficacy and understanding efficacy.
That allows you to see insight into application utilization, efficacy and success. We also have an MDM, for those of you that have many different device types, like an Apple devices, Windows devices, Android devices, where you’re looking for a way to manage those. Of course, our Lightspeed Classroom Management solution, allowing educators to have visibility into their devices, whether that be what the students are doing on the screen, pushing links, those sort of things. And what we’re focused on today is this product, right here, in the middle Lightspeed Alert product.
I’m going to talk through some of the challenges that we’ve seen and again very hopeful that we’ll get Greg back online, so that you can share some of the things that they’ve seen their district. But this is a huge issue.
For those of you that don’t know, suicide is actually the second leading cause of death in teenagers behind automobile accidents, and it’s, it’s really sad. It’s really sad. And, you know, in addition to that, school violence is another thing we’re all trying to keep an eye on.
I’ll give a great example of a broad school district in Florida as customer of ours, when the Parkland shooting occurred. That’s something that we definitely want to get ahead of, not quite some time ago before Alert came on board, but the question comes up.
Can we proactively get ahead of some of these challenges, both with self-harm and harm to others?
And the answer is becoming more overwhelmingly yes.
And so, what Lightspeed Alert is going to do is it’s actually going to support your internal administration, using AI, and machine learning to identify self-harm, and harm against others proactively, before it becomes an issue.
With this Alert product, you’ll be able to monitor their online activity. We recently just announced our integration with Microsoft. Really excited about that. First on the market to add this integration, in addition to just Microsoft Integration. But more importantly, of course, you’re gonna have access to things like Google, Gmail, or to Chat, or various other things that those students are doing.
Now, I want to talk about why it’s important, and why we’ve really tried to change the way that this is handled. We kind of take it back to that filtering agent.
Our filtering agent and handling that on that device became very imperative, because it allows us to see everything that that user is doing. So, it doesn’t matter that user’s pretty content to a blog, but they’re doing an e-mail transaction. Whether or not they’re doing a chat, like I mentioned.
You’re gonna get visibility into that. We’re finding that kids are getting more and more creative in the way that they’re communicating with each other, great examples, online documents. So if a student can communicate with another student over that, how do we prevent them from saying something harmful or flagging that there may be a risk to one of those students involved in that engagement.
And so that’s what we’re really trying to do, and that’s the goal of this product.
Give you visibility, get ahead of it, and be able to help those students out.
So, what are we doing different? Well, first is, our AI and machine learning is really important. So, I think all of you are familiar, there’s this giant bell curve, as you’re talking about student safety, where you have all these false positives, right? How do you bring that bell curve into eliminate all those deviants? And so that’s where that AI becomes really important. We’re talking about doing things like looking at not just the word, but the context of the word understanding where that website utilization is that you’re not getting flagging things like a health class report or various things like that.
And more importantly, getting those alerts out immediately to yourselves or the proper individuals within your district that have mental health training.
One of the statistics that a lot of you probably are aware of, is that 78% of school shooters revealed their plans ahead of time.
It’s something where, if we could have, just gotten ahead of those incidences, we could have stopped that.
And that’s why this product and the product like this, are becoming so relevant in the marketplace.
So, what do we do? Well, we’re gonna look at your browser searches, we’re gonna look at e-mails, we’re gonna look at text, and social media posts, look at online documentation. But also, we’re adding a service that’s just gone live, called Human Review, so, a lot of schools, we have discussions with, they love, the idea of monitoring this, but they’re also concerned about what happens at nights or weekends. If we don’t have somebody available to get those real-time alerts, Lightspeed is going to be offering, as an optional product, the ability to have human review, where we will actually look at those, and then, have a call workflow that takes place should we find that there’s an incident that needs to be addressed immediately.
Now, the other side of that is, maybe you decide you want to do that internally. Of course, you can utilize those real-time reports that are getting delivered out to your staff, into your administration, or possibly an on-site police department that you may have.
We’re very excited about that. Kinda talking about the Teams integration.
I really want to make sure that we dive into that a little bit more detail. We can see everything in Teams now, whether it’s your students chatting back and forth, sharing files, whatever it may be, you’re going to have access to visibility into that. That’s been really helpful. With allowing our schools to not just have a portion of the internet that you’re looking at, the entire productivity suite within their environment. And we’re very excited to be bringing that to market today.
Another thing that’s really interesting is the ability for us to get ahead of the incidences. So, everybody’s aware, there’s more than 3000 students suicide attempts every day in the US alone.
And yes, you heard that right 3000 attempts daily in the US, and it’s very important for us to get ahead of those.
That’s why we’re sending out those real-time alerts is making sure that not only you’re getting alerts that, hey, there’s an issue here, but we actually grab a screen capture of what’s happening.
We grab the information that leading up to that incident.
We also provide you the information post that incidents, and what we’re finding with districts, and as they’re starting to get into this, is that you start to see this whole trail of data as a student is going through this crisis.
So, you’ll start to see a suicide hotline or how do I kill myself?
How many Advil does it take to kill an adult human? It’s amazing you start to watch this progression. It’s really sad back, but it’s incredible. You have the access to data. Now you can consume that data.
You can take it and do some actionable, meaningful intervention in that student’s life to get ahead of it, get them the help that they need. It’s incredible.
We follow up with our districts that have had it and ask about, you know, how did everything go, and the outcomes are always the same.
The student’s extremely grateful that we got ahead of this.
They’re extremely grateful that we intervene, and they’re extremely grateful that they did not end up committing suicide. So, I’ll give you a couple of examples. We had one where it was a student, when our hunting blog asked me about human ballistics, and we kind of talked about why is this product so different?
It’s different because we’re going to capture things like that.
We’re going to capture that dynamic content that on the web is so scary, but also, in certain circumstances, very useful in the classroom.
Next piece is, just to kinda give you guys some statistics, we have recorded over 85,000 cases in Alert, where it’s potentially concerning student behavior that required intervention.
We’re very excited to also let you know that if you’re using this in conjunction with your filtering, not only do you get those alerts, but you’re also going to get a log of everything, is that students done on the web. You can really get in there, dig into what’s going on, make educated decisions on what level of intervention is necessary to ensure that your students are truly safe.
So, just to kinda review on all this, as we go into the last slide here, and while we have five solutions, we’re gonna focus most of our time here on Lightspeed Alert. I know Greg, back in, Greg, good to have you back end, as Marissa mentioned earlier. Please understand, Greg is going storms out there in his neck of the woods right now. So, if we lose him again, I’ll go ahead and pop in, but I just wanna say thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to share what we’re doing. We take students safety very seriously. We’re putting a lot of effort, a lot of money and a lot of time and making sure that we can present you with solutions that give you the ability to get in front of the proactively make educated decisions on helping that student and getting them the help that they need very, very quickly. And with that, Marissa, I’ll go ahead and let you share with Greg. Thank you, everyone for the opportunity.
Hey, everyone. I’m sorry about that.
We’re just getting set up and connected here again.
OK, awesome guys, forgive me.
I had to switch to a laptop and a hotspot so we’re going to make this work I’m not sure where I got cut off, but I will kind of briefly pick up. Where I think we did. Basically, the goals today are discuss how we’re solving some challenges with
The things that kind of come up in the last year, it’s very difficult, and we’ve seen for students, especially.
And we wanted to put a tool in place that would highlight seeing those challenges for them and alerting us to those types of challenges.
So, we wanted something that was effective and simple to deploy, Lightspeed does a really great job in spinning up an environment where, it’s easy to deploy. It’s easy to launch.
I’ve done several different content filters in the past, and we had Lightspeed up and running in less than a day, really a couple of hours, just to have the base of it setup. And then, really, at that point, then, it was just deploying agents. We needed accurate reporting.
We need timely alerts on issues that needed to be addressed quickly with something happening on a device, we needed to know right away, and Lightspeed does a really great job and alerting that process. When it, searches or activity is happening.
We get those alerts, and we can customize those alerts, and have them sent to the team, allowing access to needed resources without being overly restrictive.
You know, kids are going to go where they want to go, and we didn’t want to block them from everything that they needed to get to. But we also wanted to keep them safe and kind of funnel that the proper traffic on those devices, while being remaining CIPA compliant.
So, we wanted to have some granularity. And, again, Lightspeed does a really great job in doing that. They’re very K–12 driven, so, having a K–12 driven content filter was very important to us.
And then providing a dashboard for insight for school administrators, to see the activity that was happening in the school environment.
We can now assign a principal to the dashboard within Lightspeed itself, and they can see what’s happening in their school, and see what the students’ reports look like. And it’s not overwhelming, it’s not technical, it’s very, it’s very easy to navigate and manage. So, giving them some control, it was great.
So, the protocol that we have in place is very simple and basic. But it’s evolving, we’re learning, we’re trying to build it out. So far, it’s been working pretty well.
We started it back in May, it’s rolled through the summer, it’s rolled through this year. We engage our school administrators, along with the school counselors, so we inform them. If an alert comes, then, the alert comes to me.
So, if a safety alert comes in, I basically have a canned e-mail template that I have already written up with the pieces that need to be filled in. And that would be the student’s name, what school they are at, their e-mail address.
And then I would put in their login, and the serial number. Lightspeed logs all the serial numbers for the devices. And that helps kind of tie the students to the device that they’re on.
Because we issue our devices out, and we have a management platform that we know which serial number is tied to, what student.
I take a screenshot of the alert.
I put that in the e-mail, I use Windows 10 Snipping tool, I just take a snapshot of the actual dashboard information that I see, and then I link to the seven-day history of that student’s profile.
So there’s a seven-day history, that we can link to for the administrators for them to see and share with whoever needs to be shared with. So, an e-mail goes to school administrators, the counselor’s, my director, the assistant superintendent, and then the director of student services. And here’s an example of one of those e-mails.
And this is a legitimate alert that we had had.
And you can see the searched terms, in there, that triggered the alert. And, basically, just a very simple e-mail that goes to them, saying, hey, this was triggered. We believe that this type of searching warrants a well check for the student. And then, from there, the schools takeover.
So, if an alert is triggered by the Lightspeed platform, it’s alerted to me. I investigate, and I evaluate it. I look at the alert, and I try to figure out, is this a legitimate alert?
You are going to get alerts that, um, may fall in line with a student doing a project on suicide prevention that is going to trigger an alert.
So, you kinda gotta look for additional search terms, additional patterns, and take that information and deem it, whether it needs to you believe that it needs to be elevated to the next level.
Once the e-mail is sent, immediately, I follow up with a call to the school.
A call to the school, basically does a handoff. I call the counselors first. I can’t get a counselor.
I go to a principal, but I will find somebody at that school that I have sent an e-mail to.
And, from there, I do a handoff.
Basically, I say, you have an e-mail from me. Confirm that you have it. They confirm that they have it, and then, I hand it off, my job is done. At that point. I have provided all the information I have, and then they handle it at the school level.
The response from our school administrators, and especially counselors, has been very much appreciated.
This is new information that they did not have before. Since spring with this process online in May, we’ve had 39 reported cases with the schools did require to do a well check. We’ve had more reports, but these are ones that we feel like really warranted a follow up.
And the schools have just been very appreciative of the additional tools that we have, and giving them some insight now, too, to help their students.
Because with students being at home, there’s just not a lot of eyes on them anymore. And this kinda helps with that process. So, the feedback has been very positive from school level administrators to district level administrators.
Some of the lessons that we’ve learned is that some alerts, we’ve seen do not always require a notification to be sent to the school.
As I was saying, sometimes kids might be doing a research paper on suicide awareness or even violence. I had kids do searches for the new Fortnite guns that are out there. And then gun or shooting or how to kill a teammate kind of thing might trigger an alert.
Those would be considered alerts that would need to be triggered, which you kinda just, again, go to watch the patterns, see if it’s legitimate, and then address it and take it from there.
So, there’s just a little bit of, of understanding how, how the search terms work.
Um, it’s not difficult to identify the situations.
And having the right tools is just been huge to us.
The additional use of being able to monitor Teams chats has been huge. And we see a lot of our search alerts come from that.
Kids don’t really utilize searching so much, versus chat. They liked the chat. So, conversations between students will generate alerts, because conversations tend to be more open and free with the things that they’re saying. They may be reaching out to a friend. They may be threatening somebody in the school. These are things that we want to know about.
And Lightspeed does a fantastic job in monitoring the chat logs and generating alerts. And that’s been a huge blessing for us.
So keywords, how the keyword search works, basically, we put we can customize trigger words. We can build a whole flowchart of words that we feel like we would want to know if they were typed in on a computer or typed in the chat.
Obviously, commit suicide is one that we would, we would want, and we would put that in our flagged terms as s custom list and if that is typed in, we set the severity of it, and we get the alert from that.
Additional lessons learned is the user input drop-down. You can have user input or content displayed.
We had to change that because content displayed triggered a lot of alerts, where just web pages had that content on it.
And it just generated a lot of alerts.
So, like, a Google search of pages might get 250 alerts kind of thing.
So, user input is where they actually typed it in.
And that is where we would want to actually get the alerts. And then learning to spell words differently.
Kids like to try and get around the content filter by changing the spelling of a word. You gotta kind of be aware of that.
And you’ve got to add those words as to your custom lists. So, changing an O for zero for certain words.
You want to make sure that you put that in place so that you don’t miss anything.
Five key takeaways from this presentation, I’d say, if your ability to monitor safety alerts. If you have that ability, utilize it, it’s too important not to and take advantage of a tool that’s in place.
If you have the ability, it’s just, it’s just too important to keep the process simple. It doesn’t have to be complicated. And that’s what we’re trying to do here, is, we’re trying to keep the process simple.
If an alert comes up, simple e-mail to the right people at the right time, the follow up call, handed off, and then the school can handle it from there. They have the protocols in place for this at the school level already. As counselors, you’re just giving them additional insight into the digital side of it, the online side of it. Be open to feedback from the schools.
Be open to adjusting how you’re doing it. Maybe the way that you’re doing it isn’t going to work for them and for their workflow.
So, be open to just making that change and working with them, work with your school administrators, but
Online limitations of what to expect. Engage the right people at the top, and try to keep the group small, and let the school take on the best course of action when information is handed off.

Thank you guys so much for bearing with us and really submitting some great questions. I’m excited to dive into these.
OK, let’s start with this one. This is for Greg. Greg, have you noticed any significant fluctuations in alerts in a remote learning setting versus in person?
Yes, absolutely, the remote learning has increased tremendously, and I think a lot of that has to, do, you know, we changed to a remote learning, when we sent devices home
The kids are on the devices all day and then into the night, so, you know, they’re just online.
Sometimes, you can start to see patterns where just, kids are maybe home alone or they’re feeling lonely or they missed their friends. And I think that’s just generated a level of anxiety
And the awareness needs to be made at the school level, that this is, this is a real thing that we need to be aware of. So, yeah, absolutely.
I’ve seen a big increase in it since we’ve switched to when Covid hit last March, and everybody was sent home.
So yes, the answer to that question is: yes. Yeah, that’s fluctuation This is another question for you. Do you have any admin who oppose this protocol and how did you get them onboard?
We did not have any administrators that opposed the protocol.
They were all very, very understanding and, and of the need that, that this would allow the level of insight. So no, there has been no resistance from administration. From the top-down,
They understand the importance of it, and they’re glad that we’re able to help, and give some insight into it.
This is a follow up to the first question: What grades do you see the greatest amount of alerts coming in from?
I would say, high school and middle school would be the two top ones. If there’s any, from the elementary school level, it’s going to be at the higher level, like fifth grade, but not much.
It’s really, it’s really more I’d say, middle school, middle school is where it’s at the most.
I’ve got a question for you to explain how human review works.
Yeah, great question. So, the way human review works, in the same way that you as a district administrator would receive those alerts, they also would go to the Lightspeed. We actually have a team of humans that are reviewing those instances to look at them. Like, very strict protocols for when is something is deemed an actual incident that we need to get ahead of worry perspective incident. At that point, we have a workflow that we work with the school where we have a chain of three phone calls, or three people within the district will call, then, if nobody’s breach within, those three, will actually reach out to the authorities if it’s something that the imminent danger.
This is a follow up to Greg. Second question.
Did you inform parents of the new alert protocol? If so, what was the response?
So, at this point, we haven’t. We don’t have direct contact with the parents, we hand it off to the school, and they call the parents immediately.
So, they have been made aware of it. We will start rolling out our parent portal next year.
We’ve had to put a lot of things in place, very quickly with other products, and we didn’t want to overwhelm teachers and parents with just all the online learning and LMS platforms that are out there.
So, next year, we will start implementing the parent portal, where they will have control over seeing the alerts that they will get alerts.
They will have a dashboard and an app.
So, that will be rolling out next, but right now, no. We’re keeping it simple in the sense of if the alert comes in, we hand it off to the school, and then the school contacts the parents at that point.
This is another question for you. What applications do you have the most alerts coming from? Has it had any impacts on which applications are allowed access?
Most of the alerts, initially, it was just, you know, that the browser searching, so any searching that was done just on the Internet.
When we implemented the Team’s chat monitoring, which is a new feature that was added into Lightspeed, the shift changed so that now we have insights into chat logs.
So, I would say more of the content is coming from Teams, chats.
And we’ve tried to limit students, being able to create their own chatrooms. There’s a lot of policies in place that we’re still developing.
So, a lot of the chatrooms that they are a part of our monitor are already by a teacher, if a student decided to create their own private chat, which they can’t do anymore.
But in the past, when they have, we would see a lot of activity in private Teams chats, that we were able to address, and shut down, and take it to the school for them to handle as a discipline issue, if needed.
This is another thing for you.
Did you have to make any evolutions to this plan, or is this the plan that you initially started with?
This is pretty much the initial plan, so far, there hasn’t been much changes, I think the only thing that I’m aware of that was additional, but really wasn’t on my part, was the Director of the Student Services Department wanted to start keeping track, to see keeping track of all of these requests.
Because, you know, we’rev over, like, 35, 40 schools, and they wanted to see if there was a pattern, maybe more schools versus one versus the other.
So, they’re handling it on that side, but that was the one piece of information that I understand was additional to our information.
So, they wanted to kinda start culminating the information we were sending and building their own reports on that.
We don’t have a safety director, our school, how does that software differentiate between actual threats and false positives?
Yeah, Great question on that one. So, so two pieces to this. One, on the technology side is expansion.
You can have that bell curve, so we brought that bell curve in quite a bit. I’ll give you guys some statistical information. We did demo at a school where they put it in one building.
In that one day, we had 711 terms that were associated with suicide. Rather than 711, 13 of them turned into alerts. So to give you an idea, going from the report that used to be, traditionally 711 lines somebody having a look through, translated into 13, just viewing, using the AI and the machine learning side of things.
So you really, what you do is you prevent overloading everybody, but then adding that human review piece. And this has become really relevant to our schools that don’t have a safety officer, because if you tie on that service to do the human element you, basically just outsource that portion of the project to Lightspeed. You don’t have to worry about it at the district, great question. I really appreciate that.
Yeah, I’ve got another one for you, Brett, does Alert of work off campus with the same functionality as when students are as well as when students are on campus?
Yeah, great question, absolutely is the answer to that. So, that’s a really big piece of the filtering agent that we’ve spent quite a bit of time building, is that we’re looking at that session before it leaves the device. So, that means that you’re going to get visibility, whether they’re on campus or off campus.
I’ll add to that, if that’s OK. That was a really big, important piece for us with going with this product, because we needed to be able to see that traffic off campus.
And the other side of that was, Lightspeed does 100% SSL decryption, which is huge.
If you’re using a content filter and you’re not doing SSL decryption, you’re not really content filtering in any way.
So, the fact that we were able to bring on a product that had 100% SSL decryption is, is massive, because that is truly the insight you get the insight that you truly need with that.

But, yeah, absolutely, I can if I can share them separately with Marissa and then she could reach out to you and send them out. Absolutely! I’ll send what I have. Let’s see, another question for Greg, how many hits or alerts you receive on a daily basis?
For set for self-harm alerts, maybe 2 or 3 a week. Some weeks are are worse than others are more than others I should say for, for explicit content, it’s pretty high.
So those alerts on pornography and explicit terms, those ones are hourly, almost, in some cases, there’s a lot.
But for the self-harm side of things, it’s, it’s a handful a week, maybe a little less.
Yes, we’ve got a current Filter customer on who would like to know about, how can I get Alert from my district?
A great question, and I appreciate that, reach out to your sales rep, there’ll be able to help you get in the right direction based on the version of Alert you want. We kinda mentioned that there’s Alert and Alert with the human monitoring, so please reach out directly to your sales rep in the survey that you’re gonna get. At the end of this, you also have the opportunity to say if you would like your sales reps to reach out to you. If you do have interest in additional information, please check that box and we will have them reach out to you.
Alright, it looks like we’ve got one final question.
Brett, where does alert scan for potential threats, what applications, and what services?
Yeah, great question. So today, we have full integration. Anything that’s leaving that device out to the network, and this is that big, fundamental difference I was talking about.
Anything that leaves the device out to the network is going to be captured by that. So, if a student is on a Gmail account and they send out an e-mail from the school device, you’re going to capture that. If they’re on Google Chat, we’re going to cast that, if they’re on a Google document, we’re going to capture that. I just really want to fundamentally come back to that. It’s really important to understand. That’s why that agent is so different than some of the competing solutions out there is that we’re capturing anything that’s going to leave that device we’re gonna capture.
