Lightspeed Signal: Official Launch

We are thrilled to announce that Lightspeed Signal is now generally available! This product has been designed based on your feedback to help IT teams effectively manage devices, networks, and applications.

Signal Highlights: 

  • Device Management:
    • Track devices changing hands and identify inactive devices quickly.
    • Monitor VPN, proxy, and TOR access attempts in real-time.
    • Centralized insights from various data sources for easier troubleshooting.

  • App Monitoring:
    • Get immediate alerts when applications experience outages.
    • Detailed analytics on affected users and schools to streamline communication.

  • Network Insights:
    • Real-time performance metrics for both campus and off-campus networks.
    • Identify students with poor connectivity for targeted support.

💡 Exciting News! Lightspeed Signal will support iOS devices starting this summer, just in time for back-to-school season!

Lightspeed Filter: Next-Gen Policies and More

Lightspeed Filter continues to evolve, now featuring next-generation filtering policies designed for flexibility and user-friendliness.

What's New:

  • New Filtering Policies:
    • Consolidate and streamline policies while reducing troubleshooting time.
    • Flexible configurations for independent policies that can be applied across groups.
    • Easy rollbacks—test policies worry-free with a 60-day rollback feature.
  • Global Access Lists:
    • Manage allow/block lists in one place and apply them across policies.
    • Supports granular control (e.g., before/after school hours).
    • Agent Telemetry Reporting (Coming Soon):
    • Gain visibility into agent versions and deployment status across devices.
    • Perfect for managing updates and troubleshooting.
  • Next-Gen Categorization:
    • Improved accuracy, reduced recategorization burden, and automatic human reviews for edge cases.
    • A special focus on decluttering the “General” category to ensure content is categorized more effectively.

Lightspeed Insight: Smarter App and License Management

Lightspeed Insight is your go-to tool for app analytics, approvals, and compliance. We’ve been working hard to enhance its capabilities, especially around approvals and ROI reporting.

  • Public App Lists: 
    • Publish customizable app lists for parents, staff, or stakeholders. 
    • Control visibility, enable app requests, and streamline approvals. 
    • Improved Approval Process: 
    • Quickly filter apps by status or attachments (e.g., DPAs and privacy agreements). 
    • Bulk manage approvals to save time on mass changes. 
  • Coming Soon: 
    • Advanced App Tracking: 
    • Dive into granular usage data for apps like HMH, Amplify, and IXL. 
    • Track individual resources within app families to better assess ROI. 
  • Enhanced License Management: 
    • Add licenses in bulk and track usage by grade or group. 
    • Identify wasted funds with new metrics like “Unused License Cost.” 

Lightspeed MDM: Enhanced Device Management

Our Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution continues to evolve to meet your needs. 

Recently Released:

  • Full DVM Support:
    • Manage devices more efficiently with expanded support.
  • Return to Service:
    • Quickly wipe and reassign devices.
  • Safari Extension Settings:
    • Configure Safari extensions directly from MDM.
  • Coming Soon:
    • Multiple Custom Profiles from Apple Configurator:
    • Day-zero support for anything new from Apple.
  • Software Update Settings:
    • Control when updates roll out across your fleet.
