Images are blurred before rendering and quickly revealed if safe, ensuring no disruption to the browsing experience. This feature works alongside category-based web filtering for precise, page-level safety, with flexible admin controls to set blurring by category and strictness level. The result: students stay protected and focused, even when individual images might have otherwise triggered an unnecessary block.

Lightspeed Filter’s new policy experience makes it easy to assign, manage, and preview filtering rules at scale, all from a single, unified view. Admins can quickly test configurations, set group-level priorities, and apply consistent policies without overlap or confusion. This reduces time spent managing exceptions, avoids policy conflicts, and gives IT full control without guessing what users are getting.
3. Bypass Prevention That Gets Smarter Over Time
We tightened the net around proxy sites, VPN tools, and domain-hopping tricks. Smart detection and dynamic filtering improvements helped IT teams catch circumvention faster and stop it before it spreads. Combined with on-device enforcement, unknown blocking, and smart fallback logic, students can’t sidestep filtering by simply switching networks or launching a new tool.
4. A Built-In AI Assistant That Helps You Troubleshoot, Audit, and Act
Soon, Lightspeed Filter users will be able to work with BOB, our in-product AI assistant, to better understand their policies and surface important settings with a proactive approach. BOB will also be able to summarize user activity, spot key trends and anomalies in reports, dashboards, logs, and more. All without tool switching or report chasing.
5. AI Prompt Capture and Usage Reporting
With AI usage growing in classrooms, Lightspeed Filter will soon provide visibility into how students interact with tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot. Filter users will be able to see which students are using these tools, review the prompts they enter, and identify usage patterns that may need follow-up. This gives schools the context to support responsible AI use and step in early when needed.
6. Deeper Visibility into Filtering and Threat Activity
Filter now gives IT teams two powerful tools to see what’s happening across their environment. The Telemetry Report surfaces real-time insights on category activity, policy impact, and web usage trends, helping you fine-tune settings with confidence. The Security Dashboard adds focused visibility into high-risk traffic, including proxy attempts, domain-sharing threats, and encrypted abuse patterns. Together, they provide a comprehensive view of how your policies are working and where new risks are emerging.
